I don't want to spoil the story so all I'm going to say is that Judge Rosswell Carew is going after his one true love, and nothing is going to stop him.This book takes place in a different location. The author describes the landscape and scenery perfectly. You'll feel like you're right there with the hero.
Bill Hopkins really knows how capture real life banter, or at least the kind of banter you WISH you heard on the streets. I would almost move to Missouri if I could expect this level of humor from the locals. Well done, sir!

just started book 2 after I read book one so far both book are hard to put down once started reading you get wrap up in the story and want to see what happen next. hope the series go on.
T h e Judge and Ollie are quite the team. This book has enough humor to make you laugh out loud. I have read book one , it was a great book to keep you reading and looking forward to next book.
River Mourn is the sequel to Courting Murder and though it can stand on its own I would recommend reading the latter first. Hopkins is an excellent writer, wonderfully descriptive, with an avid imagination. He lifts his game in this second Judge Rosswell novel with plenty of suspense and intrigue. Well deserving of 4 stars.
Great suspense & action throughout the story. I had read the first book in the series & it provides a lot of background for this story. It isn't required though to enjoy this book. The two main characters are amusing at times also - so it's a good read to relax with; but it's hard to put down too!
While the book was very good, it started out so slow I almost gave up on it. . It took me quite a ways into it before I decided it was worth continuing. Once I got through the beginning, and was able to start keeping characters straight, it became easier to follow along. It's also a fairly lengthy story, but nothing seems extraneous. All in all, it's a book worth reading!
Many caves can be found in the Ozarks and hold mysteries that aren't quite within the law. This Judge Carew series explores the mysteries and dangers with suspense in nearly chapter. Once you start reading, you won't be able to put it down. Somewhat of a typical ending which leads to the book in the series. I'm looking forward to reading about the next adventure.
The story was well thought out and interesting enough. My biggest problem with this book is some of the awkward wording and abundance of clichés. I am sure this is simply the author's writing style, but I found the rambling parts were a bit much at times. It seemed so long winded and scattered, again attributed to the author's style. I'm sure a lot of people might really enjoy this story; it just wasn't for me.
